The University of Alaska Southeast, Sitka's Associate of Arts degree is ideal for students who are looking to earn a basic degree for career advancement, are still undecided as to which career path they would like to choose, or are planning to transfer their core credits to a four-year institution.
The program offers a broad exposure to the arts and sciences, allowing students to discover what most interests them – without the associated cost of attending a four-year college or university. They may then choose to complete an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree, or transfer their classes toward a Bachelor’s degree.
We strongly encourage Associate of Arts degree students who are planning to transfer to a four-year institution to meet with their UAS Sitka advisor to discuss which of our courses will satisfy their individual transfer requirements.
This program requires 60 credit hours of course work:
The Associate of Arts degree requires completion of English S111 and Math S105.
Placement test scores determine where students start in Math and English courses.
We recommend you take your placement tests in advance to assess your abilities. Knowing your English and Math skill levels is an important part of selecting the right courses for your choice of study.
