Register for Classes

You are welcome to register for individual classes without applying for formal admission to the University. However, if you wish to complete a degree program, you must apply for program admission requiring a $40 application fee. Some types of financial aid also require formal admission. Admission is guaranteed to all Alaskans who have earned a high school diploma or completed the GED. Students wishing to complete the GED in order to qualify for admission should contact the UAS Sitka Campus Learning Center.

Out of State Students

Currently if you do not reside in Alaska you cannot earn a degree in this program but you are allowed to enroll in individual classes. Resident tuition is charged if you take 4 credits or less. We are working on changes to the program to give nonresidents the option of earning the degree. Please contact Tim or Nicole if you are interested.

Required Documentation for Admissions

If you have less than 30 transferable semester hours, submit:

• Application for Admissions
• Official high school or GED transcript (applicants to certificate and associate degree programs are not required to send high school transcripts, but are encouraged to do so).
• Official transcript from each previous college or university (all college transcripts must be official copies submitted directly to UAS Admissions by the college or university).
• Official SAT I or ACT exam scores (required for those who have graduated high school within the past 3 years pursuing a bachelor's degree). Applicants to certificate and associate degree programs do not have to submit ACT or SAT scores (it's preferred for AA or certificate programs).

If you have more than 30 transferable semester hours, submit:

• Application for Admissions
• Official transcripts from each previous college or university (all college transcripts must be official copies submitted directly to UAS Admissions by the college or university).

Once your application for admission is approved, a certificate of acceptance will be mailed to you.

If you are interested in registering for ENVT courses, it is recommended that you contact an advisor to determine if prerequisites apply.
