Spike says "VOTE TODAY!!"
The 2012-13 SGA Election Candidates
For President: Ed Sugai

Ed Sugai is the current President of UAS-Sitka SGA and he is running for re-election.
For Vice President: Sharon Carter

My name is Sharon Carter, and I hope to have the opportunity to represent us as the University of Alaska SGA Vice President. I am majoring in Health Information Management and it is my hope to manage a medical practice or own my own medical coding/billing business. I currently reside in Anchorage Alaska, but was raised in Soldotna. I am also the current new member development officer for Anchorage AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) and enjoy the opportunity to learn leadership skills. I’m interested in this position as I would like to be involved in furthering the success of current and future students’ educational experience. I hope that I will have the opportunity of representing SGA this year. Looking forward to serving the UAS student body!
For Treasurer: JoElle Courtright

I am a stay-at-home mother of two and wife of Stephen Courtright, the music teacher at Mt. Edgecumbe High School. We moved here from Arizona in July 2010 and have seen so much opportunity in Sitka, we are doing everything we possibly can to settle our roots here permanently.
I have been enrolled as a full-time student at UAS since September 2011 and I’ve enjoyed my experience so far. My classes have ranged from general requirement courses to Women’s Weight Training and American Sign Language, with the intent to both earn my degree in Health Education and enrich my life. I am also trying to become more involved with the campus community. I have a seat at the UAS Sitka Teaching, Learning, and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) and I try to be a helpful, positive influence to both my classmates and instructors.
It is for this reason that I find running for the Treasurer’s seat on the SGA to be the next logical step in my academic career. I believe that I my skills in bookkeeping and organization, as well as my desire to serve to student body, would benefit this position in the Student Government and I care deeply about maintaining the sense of community I have encountered at UAS, both in academics and in extra-curricular activities. I am happy work with a group of such motivated, driven individuals and am proud to serve my Sitka campus community.
For Secretary: Veronica Alsup

I, Veronica Alsup, would like to be considered for student secretary for fall/spring semesters or 2012-2013.
