Renovation of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Wing - Final Phase

A Two-Year Renovation Grant Proposal (2010-2012)

The major of objective of this project is to complete the renovation of the campus’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) wing started with the previous renovation grant (see video tour of completed Health Sciences renovation project). Completing this project will provide increased ADA Regulatory Compliance and improved Health and Safety Standards, while positioning the campus to contribute to the expected growth in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry.  The State of Alaska has also made a commitment to develop a comprehensive, integrated CTE system for Alaska that aligns training institutions and coordinates program delivery. This project will build a healthy campus CTE infrastructure - one that both prepares high school  students for further training and work and provides opportunities for adults to maintain job skills or acquire new ones.

With infusing sustainability into the curriculum as a goal, this activity is focused on completing renovation of the CTE wing that when completed will house an Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Laboratory on the first floor and a Student Success Center on the second floor complete with administrative areas, a testing center, a faculty training area, a computer classroom and a multi-purpose meeting/project demonstration area, all inside the WWII-era hangar space that houses the UAS-Sitka Campus.

This project would be scheduled for completion by September 30, 2012, according to the terms of this Title III program opportunity. View images...
