What Kind of Academic Background Do I Need?
Specific Course Prerequisites: Participants entering the MBA program are expected to have knowledge of management, marketing, accounting, statistics, and finance at the level consistent with these core courses in the UAS BBA. Graduates of accredited BBA programs would normally have taken such introductory courses.
Students whose transcripts are deficient in any of these subjects must demonstrate competency before taking MBA courses which have any of these introductory courses as prerequisites.
Sometimes relevant business experience would be sufficient to demonstrate competency, if the applicant applies most of the material that might be found in the introductory course frequently as a normal part of his/her job. Otherwise, applicants would need to take the relevant introductory course before taking the MBA class.
Decisions on admissions will include consideration of whether it seems likely that background deficiencies would be satisfied by the time the MBA course is scheduled in the sequence.
What if I don’t fit this profile? Any program benefits from diversity. Managers, in particular, need exposure to thinking in the broader world outside their own organizations and industries. Thus, UAS is always eager to take a look at exceptionally well-qualified applicants who may not exactly fit the standard requirements. However different your own background and experience are from the standard profile noted above, you might be able to make valuable contributions to the class discussions. If you believe that you would make strong contributions beneficial for the program participants, please point this out so we can consider it.
