NOWHERE Now Infamous
Tee-shirt reads NOWHERE ALASKA 99901
Adjunct professor Mary Ida Henrikson's now famous t-shirt is all over the web, CNN and Newsweek after a 2006 photograph surfaced with Vice Presidential nominee Governor Sarah Palin holding it up in what is claimed as support for Ketchikan's hard link to Gravina Island. The tee-shirt reads NOWHERE ALASKA 99901, and was a meant to be a symbol of pride and hope for the then economically depressed town.
Ms. Henrikson, MFA Claremont Graduate University, teaches studio and art history classes at UAS Ketchikan campus.
