July 4 is right around the corner!
It's not just the sun on campus this semester
The Juneau-Douglas 4th of July
committee theme for 2009 is “8 Stars of
Gold.” This year’s UAS delegation will
be led by the Chancellor as the North
Star. He will be riding his new scooter
that he won at the Alumni and Friends
Golf Tournament in Gustavus. Student
services workers Rekann and Rick are
sewing star costumes for marchers to
wear, representing the eight stars of
UAS:
Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences,
Management, Education, Career Education, Exchange and
Study Abroad and Student Services. Marchers will hand out
candy, UAS mini-pennants and cards inviting spectators to
come on out and meet the totem pole carvers.
All UAS community members of all ages are invited to join the parade effort. If you’d like to help with preparations, march in the parade or both, please contact Katie Bausler at the UAS PR and Media Relations office: 796-6530.
