Division Champions: UAS Flukes Men’s Softball Team
From the Juneau Empire, July 22, 2009
Men’s F Division
The First National Caps and the UAS Flukes entered their
season finale showdown all tied up for first place, but the
Big Fish capped off the season with a champagne bubble net
feeding, 20-9.
Earlier in the week, the Flukes spyhopped over the 10 Rightfielders 13-5, but the 10 Men finished strong, curbing Perseverance/Pak’s 10-9.
The Pak men parked Double Ugly 9-6, while the Caps inflicted a 14-12 stinging on the ACOA Mudstingers.
Double Ugly made it an o-fer ‘stinger week with a benadryl-laced 17-8 thumping over the Mudstingerless.
Congratulations to the UAS Flukes, taking it right down to the wire, for the Men’s F Division Championship. Players this year from UAS were: Students: Kellen Kraft, Lucas Baranovic, Tom Bay, Lucas Mullen (alumni), Daniel Leder, Joey Fox, Ralph Wolfe, Matt Brody, Jon Barton, Austin Moline Staff and Faculty: Shea Mack and Brian Blitz
"The team showed marked improvement over last year. It was an exciting season and we look forward to next year when we hope to field a coed team as well," said team member Shea Mack.
