New Director of Student Services: Jesse Grant
“I would like for students at UAS to thrive in an environment of robust collegiate spirit encouraged by deliberate collaborations between Academic and Student Affairs programming.”
Dr. Jessie L. Grant joined the UAS community as the Director of Student Services in July. Grant replaces Tish Griffin Satre, who retired after more than two decades at UAS. Jessie has worked in higher education as a student affairs professional since 1989.
For the previous two years, Jessie worked at Western Michigan University, most recently as the ALPHA Program Coordinator and previously in the positions of Research Assistant and Compliance Officer for the Office of Institutional Equity.
Before his Western Michigan experience Jessie worked at Aquinas College for two years as the Director of Campus Life. He is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the American College Personnel Association.
He holds a BS in Sociology from Kent State University and a master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Iowa, where he served as a TRIO Student Services Counselor and Program Assistant for the Opportunity at Iowa program.
Dr. Grant received his doctorate from Western Michigan University Higher Education & Leadership program, where his research was on administrator job satisfaction and midlevel managers’ socialization.
“I would like for students at UAS to thrive in an environment of robust collegiate spirit encouraged by deliberate collaborations between Academic and Student Affairs programming,” said Grant.
