New Director of Student Services: Jesse Grant

Dr. Jessie L. Grant joined
the UAS community as the
Director of Student Services
in July. Grant replaces Tish
Griffin Satre, who retired
after more than two decades
at UAS. Jessie has worked in
higher education as a student
affairs professional since
1989.
For the previous two years, Jessie worked at Western Michigan University, most recently as the ALPHA Program Coordinator and previously in the positions of Research Assistant and Compliance Officer for the Office of Institutional Equity.
Before his Western Michigan experience Jessie worked at Aquinas College for two years as the Director of Campus Life. He is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the American College Personnel Association.
He holds a BS in Sociology from Kent State University and a master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Iowa, where he served as a TRIO Student Services Counselor and Program Assistant for the Opportunity at Iowa program.
Dr. Grant received his doctorate from Western Michigan University Higher Education & Leadership program, where his research was on administrator job satisfaction and midlevel managers’ socialization.
