Volunteers received hands on instruction in a variety of disaster preparedness and response skills including emergency first aid, fire safety, building damage assessments, light search and rescue and disaster psychology.

CERT Group that was trained in Juneau on November

Last November, almost two dozen of your coworkers successfully completed the Campus Community Emergency Response Team (CCERT) training course on the Juneau campus. Volunteers received hands on instruction in a variety of disaster preparedness and response skills including emergency first aid, fire safety, building damage assessments, light search and rescue and disaster psychology.

UAS campuses rely on local community first responders for help during an emergency. However, in the event of a significant community disaster such as a major earthquake, community resources could be strained and help to our campus could be delayed. CCERT volunteers can make a big difference by taking positive steps to save lives and preserve property until professional help arrives.
