World of Work Job & Career Fair
Sitka, Alaska, February 17 and 18, 2010
The fifth annual World of Work Job and Career Fair took place at the Centennial Hall in Sitka, Alaska February 17 and 18. Designed primarily to help local high school students better understand the job market, the World of Work (or WOW) fair attracts employers from around the State of Alaska. The job fair is also open to the public. This year, representatives of about 40 companies, agencies and organizations were on hand for the WOW Fair. A popular choice this year was Hot Jobs in Health Care for Alaska. The UAS Sitka Campus manned two booths. Cheryl Stromme promoted classes in Health Sciences, Bob Love sponsored RRANN, and Louise Driver and Sandra Burgess focused on Admissions and Advising. Elizabeth Williams and Barbara Burnett represented UAS Juneau Campus at the fair. This year had a special guest appearance by Governor Sean Parnell who talked with vendors and students at the fair.
