Jody Smothers Marcello was selected to participate in the annual Reading and scoring of the College Board’s Advanced Placement Examinations this June in Cincinnati, Ohio. This year Jody was among 300 K-12 and university educators reading 67,000 AP Human Geography exams. The AP Human Geography program began ten years ago and has been growing at a steadfast pace each year.

Jody, who has been a teacher in Sitka for 23 years and an educator for 31 years, has been teaching AP Human Geography for the last seven years at Sitka High School. She is the only teacher of AP Human Geography in Alaska and will present on how to teach AP Human Geography at the College Board’s Annual Conference next month in Washington, DC. Jody is also an instructor of advanced multicultural education in the UAS Master of Arts in Teaching Program.
