The first annual conference of the Alaska Space Grant (ASG) Consortium was held at the Egan Library May 6-7, 2010. Affiliate members and their students represented UAF, Rural Alaska Campuses, UAA, APU, the Anchorage and Fairbanks Museums, hosted by UAS ASG Affiliate Director Cathy Connor.
Alaska Space Grant is a consortium of public and private universities and non-profit organizations that sponsors a broad range of programs to enhance teaching, research, and educational outreach within aerospace and earth science related disciplines throughout Alaska. The Alaska Space Grant Program (ASGP) was established at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1991 under a Phase II Program Grant from NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program.
UAS ENVS and Geography program students Ivy Smith, Nick Korzen, Kristi Asplund, David Sauer, Nat Kugler, and Melissa Woodgate, former Juneau Icefield Research Program student Matthew Nelson, 2010 and INTEL International Science Fair-bound, Southeast Regional High School Science Fair winners were all recipients of 2009-2010 ASG Funding. http://spacegrant.alaska.edu.
