The newly formed UAS Sitka Campus Basketball team played their first game at the Mt. Edgecumbe Invitational Basketball Tournament at BJ McGillis Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 19. The team won 86-66 and moved on to the next bracket on Thursday, January 20 winning again 122-115. This was topped off Friday January 21 by a 95-88 victory over Gustavus's Taylor Charters, after a win over the High Flyers. On Saturday Team UAS Sitka fell to the Haines Merchants 97-74. Way to go Team UAS Sitka for finishing 4th in the 2011 Mt. Edgecumbe Invitational Basketball Tournament, Open Division!
The team is supported by the UAS Sitka Campus Student Government Association and Coach Rodney Campbell who is donating his time, coaching skills, and entry fees. The team is composed of UAS students and alumni.
