Student Success Working Group Progress Report
Everyone agrees that we have room to improve our retention and graduation rates. Stay tuned.
The Student Success Working Group was formed in 2009 to explore ways to increase student retention. It now includes representative faculty and staff along with members of the Provost Council. The student radio program on KXLL is one result. With the support of KTOO and UAS faculty the Sunday evening program is a success, and soon students will broadcast from a small studio in the library. Listen Sundays 5 – 8 pm on KXLL Excellent Radio: 100.7, www.ktoo.org/kxll.
Following a well-received start this Fall, One Campus, One Book continues to generate interest and the OCOB Committee is preparing for next year. Committee members are currently reviewing titles for AY12 and report they are getting good feedback from their constituents. Have questions? Want more info? Contact Chair Wendy Girven.
Looking ahead, the Student Success group is setting priorities for new projects and considering best practices that fit UAS. An Early Alert program will receive some attention. Mandatory advising for new students will be implemented soon. A number of other continuing programs and initiatives are being monitored and new ones explored. Everyone agrees that we have room to improve our retention and graduation rates. Stay tuned.
The Working Group meets once or twice a semester; for the member list, minutes, and survey results check out the UASOnline SSWG Portfolio.
