Active Shooter Drill at UAS Ketchikan

Response procedures have been refined and a statewide notification system put in place.

An active shooter drill was staged on the UAS Ketchikan campus on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Local police and emergency services agencies participated. Chancellor Pugh participated in the “mock” press conference from Juneau. In 2010, an active-shooter drill was staged on the UAS Juneau campus. Since then, response procedures have been refined and a statewide notification system put in place. The system was tested in the Ketchikan campus exercise. An emergency preparedness coordinator for the three UAS campuses, to be headquartered in Juneau should be on the job within the next two months.
