Thirteen students completed an entry level surface miner class through the UAS Center for Mine training October 12, 2012. Several already have job offers from local mining companies. The program is operated in partnership with the University of Alaska's Statewide Corporate Programs and UA Mining and Petroleum Training Service (MAPTS.)
