Virginia and Linda Retirement
June Retireesby Michael Ciri
Linda Blefgen is retiring June 28, 2013 after ten years with the Information Technology department. Linda came to work at UAS IT in July 2003 as their first-ever professional administrative support position. Linda’s background working in zoos and as the longtime Director of Gastineau Humane Society stood her in good stead, as she was able to take on herding cats in the IT department.
On accepting her position in IT, Linda made it clear that she would only work there for three years. Michael has succeeded in keeping Linda at IT through the unique strategy of setting the clock on her computer back to 2005.
Linda has brought professionalism, grace, taste and good humor to the IT department. She is a joy to work with and continues to inspire us all through her continued active participation in the community.
Virginia Berg, Administrative Assistant in Humanities, was honored at a potluck luncheon by colleagues with words of gratitude and the gift of hand woven basket. Virginia retired as of May 24 after 8.5 years of service to UAS. She supported the faculty and students in her department with great efficiency and a wonderful sense of humor. Virginia will be greatly missed!
