"Developing People’s Information Capabilities (Library and Information Science, Volume 8)"
Associate Professor of Library and Information Science Jennifer Ward published a chapter in an Emerald Library and Information Science book, Developing People’s Information Capabilities (Library and Information Science, Volume 8). The chapter, “Empowering Professional Practices of a Community of e-Learners: Special Education Teachers in Alaska and their Information Literacy Conceptions” describes collaborative teaching and action research undertaken with UAS School of Education (former) Professor Thomas Duke. From the back cover: “This book is the first of its kind to focus on information literacy research and practice with a genuine international focus, spanning different contexts. The underlying themes are that of capability building and empowerment. Hence it seeks to move away from instrumental and skills based views of information literacy towards a more enriching and holistic approach.”
