Elected Officials

Gwenna President: Gwenna Richardson, Ketchikan Campus

I have been in Alaska since 1996 via the Army. I am married, retired from the military, and working for the Ketchikan campus as the Human Resource Technician since 2000. I completed my Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts majoring in Administration Management and Accounting from Excelsior College, Albany, NY in July 2005 (taking most of my required classes from UAS). I served as the Ketchikan Member-At-Large from 2006-2008. In 2009 I ran for the UAS Vice President of Staff Council position and served in that capacity up to December 2011 when the president seat became vacant. It has been a big year of change for Staff and I would like to continue as the UAS President of Staff Council using the experienced and knowledge of I have gained over the past couple years. I am looking forward to working with everyone and I am glad to be part of a group that is there to be the voice for staff.

I am also a member of Staff Alliance and serve on the Joint Health Care Committee, Staff Health Care Committee, Info Tech Executive Committee and various subcommittees.

Gwenna Vice President: Mae Delcastillo, JuneauCampus

Coming from a military family, I consider Alaska, my home. I am the Records Supervisor for the Registrar’s Office since January. My experience within the UA began as a UAF student in the Culinary Arts program and as a student assistant in the Registrar’s office. Within the 8 years working at UAF, I worked as the receptionist, Records clerk, Academic Scheduling Coordinator and previously as office manager at the Registrar’s office. As a staff employee, working at the university is worthwhile and fulfilling. Most of all, I understand how vital the staff role is for the university.

Moving to Juneau and working for UAS has been the best decision for me and my son, so, I understand how important employment changes can impact one’s livelihood. I would like to serve in the Staff Council to be aware of any upcoming changes that will impact university employees and to learn more about my peers at UAS.

Debbie Secretary: Debbie Muller, Juneau Campus

I came to Alaska - Fairbanks - when I was in the first grade. My stepfather was in the military, and then I was in the travel business, so I was here and gone, here and gone, here and gone. My best estimate is that I've been in Alaska between 12 and 15 years. I have been back this time for 5 1/2 years - it took me so long to get back that I don't intend to leave again! I have lived and worked in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Prudhoe Bay, Dutch Harbor and Juneau. I was at UAF for 3 years - one year at the Provost Fiscal office, then two years at the UAF Bookstore ... all three years as a Fiscal Technician. I started at UAS, at the Bookstore, May 2009.

I wanted to be part of Staff Council to learn more of my fellow staff members and to become involved and aware of things happening at UAS.”

Pennoyer Juneau Member at Large: Mischelle Pennoyer

In June, Mischelle will complete her fourth year working in the Office of the Provost. Through her work as Academic and Faculty Services Coordinator at UAS, Mischelle works with and has an understanding for each Juneau campus constituency – faculty, students and staff. In her previous work at Alaska Pacific University, she served as Staff Council Representative and was awarded Staff Employee of the Year for her efforts there.

Ledford Ketchikan Member at Large: Marianne Ledford

I was born and raised in Oregon, with the exception of two years that I lived in Sitka in 1972 and 1973. I moved to Ketchikan in 2007 and began working at UAS Ketchikan in February of 2008. I have an AAS – Accounting degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities. I’m married with three grown children. I love reading, fishing, learning and traveling. I appreciate the Staff Council and the purpose that it serves because I believe employees are empowered by having a voice in things that are going on in their place of employment.

Kim Sitka Member at Large: Kim Davis

I work for the University of Alaska Southeast – Sitka Campus in the Instructional Services/ Distance Education Dept. I’ve been in this dept. for 5 years.  I have lived in Sitka my whole life and I absolutely love living here. I graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with my A.A.S. degree in Human Services, all by distance. I’ve served on the Student Government council here on the Sitka Campus for 2 years. I have two dogs (Chihuahuas) called Bella and Blue. I love to read; hike, fish, and pretty much do anything outdoors that I can. I hope to be a voice for staff here on the Sitka Campus and to help recruit more people not only to be active on staff council but to be active on other committees around campus.
