There are many ways that the military can help you with the rising cost of furthering your education. Here are some of the programs:

Tuition Assistance

Military Tuition Assistance Program pays for up to 100 percent of the cost of tuition or expenses up to a maximum of $250 per semester credit hour and a personal maximum of $3,500 per fiscal year.

Montgomery GI Bill

The GI Bill offers up to $32,400 in tuition in return to a three-year commitment on full-time duty. You contribute $100 a month for a year. You get $900 a month for three years. The GI Bill can be used not only for college degree programs but also for certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training, and correspondence courses. Members of the Reserves and National Guard are eligible for GI Bill benefits but at a reduced rate.

College Fund

Enlistees in the Armed Services who become eligible for their College Fund Programs receive up to $50,000 toward college tuition.

Loan Repayment Programs

Full-time military personnel are eligible for repayment of their loan. Each branch of service handles this differently so you would have to check with your particular branch or service.

ROTC

Army ROTC is an elective curriculum you take along with your college courses. Army ROTC can pay for your college tuition as well. You will have the normal college experience but when you graduate, you will be an officer in the Army. For further information contact the ROTC 1-800- 872-7682.
