Question #5 What can you do to succeed in college?

Getting Organized

Find yourself a big calendar and write these dates and events in a place where you can refer to it often:
  • Paper due dates
  • Test dates
  • Project dates
  • Social events
  • Activities that affect how you schedule your time
  • Weekly Schedule
Use a weekly schedule to specify how you intend to use your time. Block out class times, work schedules, social events, meals, sleep schedules, etc.

Add in your study time starting with the subject you like the least or find the most difficult.

Think about how you will reward yourself when you stick to your schedule and complete everything you need to get done.
    Daily Check Lists
Daily check lists are used to keep track of what you need to accomplish in a single day.

Use 3x5 cards, paper, or computer-generated check lists. The best time to write your list is first thing in the morning, or possibly the evening before.

Remember to cross the items off as you complete your activities.
Don't forget that schedules are not written in stone, and that you should always continue to evaluate how you schedule your time.

You should also experiment with different schedules to find the one that works the best.

Using colors to identify different types of activities may help you keep a balance in your activities.

Just be careful not to get so hung up on the scheduling process so that it becomes a chore and on one more thing that you do not want to do.
