The TRiO progam offers a diverse selection of support services that are meant to help students succeed in college. Whether you need help with academics, transportation, financial aid, or with personal issues, we're here to provide support and to be your advocate.
TRiO Services
One-on-One Tutoring
One-on-one tutoring can be provided to TRiO students and no expense to the student. TRiO strives to establish tutors for all upper and lower division classes offered at UAS. Tutoring sessions are scheduled during a time that works best for both the student and the tutor and these sessions can take place on or off campus.
TRiO Scholarships
TRiO offers scholarships to its Active students each semester. For more information on TRiO scholarshipis please visit the scholarship page within this website here.
Referral to Community and University Resources
TRiO understands the importance of having secure funding, housing, child care, disability services, and transportation to complete your education. If you need assistance with finding or utilizing any of these services please contact the TRiO office. The TRiO staff can help you complete applications, contact community agencies, and provide you internet access to perform research.

Equipment Loan Program
TRiO Student Support Services has laptop computers, graphing calculators, and USB jump drives available for check-out.
Laptops are available for one-week check-out, and the graphing calculators and USB jump drives are available for semester long check-out.
If you are interested in this option, please stop by the TRiO office to initiate your request.
Scholarship / FAFSA Application Assistance
The TRiO staff is available to help you complete and submit your FAFSA and scholarship applications. If you need assistance, call the TRiO office to make an appointment.

If you have specific questions regarding your financial aid please contact the UAS Financial Aid office here www.uas.alaska.edu/finaid.
Pre-Academic and Career Advising
The TRiO staff is available anytime to talk with students about their courses and degree of study. The Director and Academic Coordinator pre-advise students on course registration and can complete a degree checksheet to let students know what degree requirements they have accomplished.
Are you graduating soon? Not sure what the next step is after graduation? TRiO staff can help you get started. We also suggest that you visit the UAS Career Services program here if you are interested in on-campus employment or internship opportunities.
Support for Students with Disabilities
TRiO SSS works very closely with the UAS Disability Support Services center (DSS) to provide services to students with disabilities.
To schedule an appointment with the Disability Support center please call (907) 796-6000.
Academic Success Workshops
TRiO hosts and partners with other UAS programs/services to present workshops and that help foster academic success for TRiO students. All workshops are free, and TRiO students are encouraged to attend at least one workshop during the fall and spring semesters. If you have any ideas for academic workshops you would like to see offered please let us know.
Cultural Activities
TRiO students are encouraged to attend at least one cultural event during the academic year. Some examples of our cultural events are Perserverance Theatre tickets, fry bread workshops amd a Berner's Bay ecological cruise. If you have any ideas for cultural workshops you would like to see offered please let us know.
