Peer Support Office
The PSO serves as a confidential drop-in center for students. Staff have access to a wealth of resources to support their student peers. The Peer Support Office (PSO) is located in the Lodge at the heart of the Student Housing complex. The office is staffed by the Wellness Coordinator during daytime hours and by a Peer Advocate (PA) in the evenings. The PSO is open from Sunday to Friday, and is closed Saturday. A peer advocate will be on hand every evening from 5 to 9 PM. Additonally, the Wellness Coordinator, Tara Fritzinger, works from Monday to Friday, 10-5. If Tara is in the office she is availble to students as well.
PAs receive a great deal of training to serve as objective listeners while visitors are either urged to think of ways to work through personal dilemmas or to brainstorm ideas with help. PAs are trained to facilitate conflict mediation and educated about general college student health and wellness issues. The PAs also facilitate wellness-oriented social and educational activities within Student Housing and on the main campus.
