Tremolite (Silicate-Double Chain Silicate) 


Hardness: 5.0 - 6.0
Specific Gravity: 3.0 - 3.3

Characteristics: Amphibole; usually white; vitreous luster; two perfect prismatic cleavage; uneven fracture; translucent to nearly opaque; forms complete solid solution with ferroactinolite; insoluble in most acids.

Found in dolomitic marbles; schists (often associated with talc); serpentines.

Some uses of tremolite are in ceramic clays, sand, talc, and floor tiles.
