Welcome to Disability Services

At the University of Alaska Southeast, providing equal opportunities for students who experience disabilities is a campus wide responsibility and commitment. We work together with faculty and students to identify individual needs and how to best accommodate those needs.

General Overview

Academic services constitute an integral component of equalizing the post-secondary environment for students who experience disabilities. Disability Services (DS) is responsible for coordinating services for UAS students who experience disabilities. DS Also serves as a resource; providing information to the campus community. DS Staff can provide further information about the services available.

When barriers do arise Disability Services assist in the identification of reasonable adjustments. DS can provide details about services and accommodations that are available to qualified students with appropriate documentation. Early planning is encouraged and necessary to allow DS staff adequate time to arrange for services. It is the student's responsibility to initiate contact with and provide the appropriate disability documentation to DS.

The Juneau campus consists of multiple building locations that are a considerable distance from the main campus.  Students with mobility challenges will need to take into consideration the layout of the campus when determining if they can navigate it. DS encourages students with mobility challenges to take this into consideration.

Interested individuals are encouraged to contact Disability Services by phone, email, or in person.
