Accounts

Overview

University of Alaska Southeast services are primarily made accessible through centralized UA-wide usernames and passwords. This account is generated automatically based on Banner information entered by the UAS Registrar, Human Resources, Financial Aid, or other statewide campuses. This ensures accounts remain consistent throughout your entire duration with the UA system. You can claim your account by visiting our Easy Login Maintenance Option (ELMO), as well as set, verify, or change your password. In ELMO, you can also check and update your email destination and verify your account status.

University of Alaska Southeast Affiliate

UAS Student

Student accounts are available immediately upon registration in Banner for any UAS course. Visit ELMO to claim your account and verify your password. The accounts will remain active for up to 8 weeks following the conclusion of the final course(s).

Former students who want to extend their email access may join the Alumni and Friends Association. Recent UAS Graduates who want to join the Alumni and Friends Association receive a discount on the year-long subscription.

UAS Student — "Incompletes"

Students working on an incomplete who need additional access to course content need to work with their instructor to fill out a Course Completion Contract for Incomplete Grades. The UAS IT Helpdesk will need a completed copy of the course contract to extend student accounts past the 8-week cut-off. The Faculty Handbook outlines the qualifications that meet an incomplete.

UAS Regular Employee

Employee accounts are immediately available once an employee has an active employee role or is designated as the instructor of record for any UAS course. Employee accounts expire 7 days after employment ends in the Banner system unless another role remains active.

Certain Banner systems are accessed using an alternative to the standard UA username and password. If you need access to these portions of Banner as part of your job, administrative managers/supervisors will facilitate your access.

UAS Affiliate Faculty

Affiliates receive a special appointment from the dean and approved by Human Resources. HR will contact I.T. Services and provide IT with a signed copy of the agreement.

Affiliates are not considered employees. If not yet in the Banner system, their information must be entered there to generate a UA Username.

University of Alaska Affiliates

UAA/UAF/Statewide Affiliates

Affiliates with active accounts from other UA campuses can log in immediately to UAS resources such as student-use computers and UAS Online. No further action is necessary. Account expiration is managed by the user’s primary campus, MAU affiliation.

Guests or "Sponsored" Access

Alumni & Friends, Conference Attendees, Contractors

Deans and Directors may request access to technology resources in support of a specific endeavor for a specific time.

At this time, Banner contains over a half-million accounts. These include current and former applicants, students, employees, and contractors. If the individual is already in Banner, IT Services will simply activate the account by assigning a special role and expiration date.

If the individual is not yet in the Banner system, their information must be entered there to generate a UA Username. UAS Departments can contact either the Registrar or the IT Services department to have an individual added to Banner. Once this has been done, IT Services can activate the account immediately by assigning a special role and expiration date.

If you are working with someone who needs sponsored access, please ask your Dean or Director to email the UAS IT Helpdesk. The Helpdesk will need the requested information:

  • The name of the individual
  • The person's role or relationship to the University
  • A brief description of what resources the person will need to access (computers, email, local fileshares, etc.)
  • The start/end dates access is needed (not to exceed 1 year)
