Welcome to Academic Advising!
What is Academic Advising?
Advising is one of the most important services provided at UAS. It is a two-way interaction where the student and the advisor work together to establish academic and career goals and then plan for courses and activities which enable students to accomplish those goals. Students are expected to get in contact with their advisor, meet regularly, keep all appointments, follow through with referrals and ask for help when they need it.
Academic Advisors are resources for:
- Planning for completion of your General Education Requirements (GERs)
- Exploring your options for choosing a major
- Helping with course selection, registration, and academic concerns
- Making a schedule of classes
- Answering questions about academic policies, such as adding and dropping classes
- Assisting with transitioning from high school, the professional workforce, or transferring from other colleges or universities.
Peer Advisors are also available in the Student Resource Center (SRC) to answer your questions related to common academic policies and registration.
